Egypt uses confessional narration which is a mixture of acting, motivational speaking, poetry and comedy to inform on current social issues. One man and seven characters illustrate healing truths many brothers want to say but cannot or will not articulate. The 18th annual birthday celebration of Ida B. Wells-Barnett took place in Holly Springs, Mississippi Friday July 11th thru Sunday July 13th, 2014. This unique and educational celebration included a one-woman monologue by performer Safiya Bandele of New York , tour of the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee as well as arts and crafts display by artist Bill Clifton. AMMI developed the press release, marketed the event to civic organizations, media outlets and handled social media outreach. The event was a true success and garnered the largest audience in recent years.
Tiana L. Ferrell is Publisher of Atlanta Free Speech which is a revival of the Memphis Free Speech and Headlight newspaper that was co-owned by her great-great grandmother Ida B. Wells-Barnett in the late 1800’s. Ms. Ferrell is responsible for the editorial direction and administration for the publication, which targets primarily African-Americans. AMMI was responsible for securing media placement in the June 2014 issue of Essence magazine which is a national publication.
